I have gotten to Bangkok
Well I finally got here and Thailand is quite a trip. The weather is pretty damned close to a hot house, the flora is intense and the Thais are extremely polite.
I came across the weirdest cowboy themed bar that was not open when I tried to go in so I shall be checking it out this evening. I am sure that Robert Duvall's character from Apocalypse Now would fit right in and if I am lucky I may run into Kurtz's ghost.
Took a long walk around the neighborhood that the hotel is in. There are temples everywhere as well as these little structures called 'god houses' that seem to be in front of every business and house. I even found one in front of a garbage heap.
From what I can gather, they are Hindi in origin and are erected by the home owner even if he or she is Bhuddist or Muslim. What I have seen no evidence of, thank god, are fundamentalist christians. However I am sure it is only a matter of time before I see some mormon missionaries bringing the word of Joseph Smith to the unwashed heathens of the world.
I hope to post pictures tomorrow, till then ciao my friends and go in peace
