In Bangkok buses are the only way to travel. They can be maddeningly slow, or surprisingly fast depending on the traffic. There are two types of buses, one is air conditioned and has padded seats, these cost 13 baht and above depending on how far you want to travel.

The other type of bus, which is cooled by fans, costs 7 baht. 25 cents to ride the whole way across Bangkok can not be beat

Jerro prefers the latter bus because they are blue, orange or red and have wooden floors and you can stick your arm out of the window. He also says that sometimes the bus driver smokes but has not seen anyone else do it, so he thinks it might be illegal to smoke on the bus.
